Lateral Spreading

Lateral Spreading, originally uploaded by Birdiez.

This is an example of lateral spreading, which occured during an earthquake in Guateumala.

See the fissures running alongside the river? When you scroll down the blog, to the traditional house with the fissures running along side it, compare to these.

Lateral Spreading can occur during liquefaction.

If you see these types of fissures in places where there may be a swamp/river/low lying basin or high water table - soft soils, please make a note/picture of it.
