Sand Boil

This is a really fantastic shot of a sand boil!

During an actual earthquake, a liquid mixture of sand and water would have been gushing out of this, leaving the sand deposited in the cone formation.

If you see any of these, please take a picture and make a note of it's location.

Sand Boils occur during liquefaction, and are commonly found in river delta's, low lying basins, and anywhere where there is loose grandular soils, and a healthy water table.
